Introduction[edit]
Scaled Prices are a part of the BME 1.2 Catalogue. Through Scaled Prices, the supplier offers a gradual decrease of prices, when ordering larger quantities of one product or service. Scaled pricing, in a standard system and can be based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Quantity
- Value
- Gross weight
- Net weight
- Volume[1]
Currently, SynerTrade uses Scaled Prices based on Quantity.
Business Scope[edit]
The internal requester can use the correct price for the requested quantity, in order to benefit from scaled pricing rebates.
Version Support[edit]
Scaled Prices functionality, which is available inside “Catalogue System” app, is supported starting with Core 3.10.
Functional Scope[edit]
Backoffice Settings[edit]
General setting, regarding Scaled Prices activation, is available here:
- Backoffice> Customizing> Settings> Procurement & ordering ("App" drop-down)> Ordering settings>> "Allow editing the price for open orders"
By enabling this setting, the user is able to edit the price. Hence, the price ranges, provided by the supplier, is no longer obeyed.
For clients, that are using "Procurement & ordering" app instead of "Catalogue System", the Scaled Prices can be activated here:
- Backoffice> Customizing> Settings> Procurement & ordering ("App" drop-down)> BMECat Supplier Catalogue>> "Use price scale at quantity entry"
This setting is available for platforms, using Scaled Prices in "Procurement & ordering" app and will not affect "Webshop" Scaled Prices.
Validity Period of a Product[edit]
When importing, the time of a BME product will be saved as date + time in two ways:
- If there is a time-tag in valid start or end date, the specified time will be shown.
- If there is no time-tag available, then for the start date nothing will be displayed (2016-12-02 00:00:00) and for the end date, “23:59:00” will be added to the specified date.
Pricing Logic[edit]
By displaying the Scaled Prices for the products, the requesters can make an informed decision, on which quantity fits their budget better. Depending on their selection of quantity, SynerTrade system will automatically calculate the correct price, based on the Scaled Prices information, imported through the BME 1.2 Catalogue. It is worth mentioning, Scaled Prices are displayed only for BMECat products.
Scaled Prices implementation is visible through the following pages:
- Webshop
- Product detail
- Catalogue Management
BMECat only defines the lower-bound. Thus, anything below the lower-bound has a higher price. As an example:
Lower-bound = 1-10 >> price-amount=10
Lower-bound = 10-20 >> price-amount=8
Lower-bound = 20-30 >> price-amount=7
More precisely, for the first lower-bound, price=10 applies for quantity of products, from 1 to less than 10. For the second lower-bound, the new price, which is 8, will be available only if the user orders a quantity of 10 to 19 of the product.
An important fact regarding the mentioned case above is that, if the user orders 9.5 numbers of a product, the price=10 will automatically be selected, as quantity of 9.5 belongs to the first lower-bound and the next one will start from quantity of 10 onwards.
The product however, only displays the minimum lower-bound price as the based price.
Roles[edit]
Suppliers (external users) must have the “Catalogue Administrator Supplier” role, in order to be able to upload a BME 1.2 Catalogue.
Buyers (internal users) must have any of following roles, in order to be able to view and order products:
- Ordering User
- Ordering Purchaser
- Product Viewer
Companies using Scaled Prices[edit]
Due to the fact that Scaled Prices functionality is available from Core 3.10 onwards, there are currently no customers using this functionality. Companies interested in using the Scaled Prices functionality will be required to upgrade to Core 3.10 or higher.
